I've been thinking about creating another blog titled "Gunter and Ahna's adventures while Matt stays home to study for the MCAT". Though the title may be a bit long, it is exactly what May has been about. Oh, and June will be too.
Don't get me wrong, I completely support Matt and his quest to become a doctor. I can't think of a career better suited to him. And he's doing amazing. It's been fun to watch him focus on school and studying in his relaxed yet annoyingly competent way. I'm re-learning how to share him (with books?) and trying to get used to the idea, since this is only the beginning of a long journey for the both of us.
For my part, I've begun to seek out local friends and activities in Newport to keep me busy during the evenings or weekends. And I try to keep quiet at night (like right now, I'm blogging so he can read organic chemistry). I'm daydreaming about gardening and creating pottery. But end up spending way too much time watching TV and searching for puppies on Craigslist. Oh well.
Hey Ahni!
ReplyDeleteMatt has my condolences. One of my most talented students just took the MCAT a few days ago. Whew! Definitely don't envy him. Sounds like you guys are having a blast! You are def the us of 5 years past. Have I asked when you are doing your first thru hike yet??? I have been dreaming of gardening too even tho I should be dreaming of sleep. J gets up in T minus 3.5 hours. Don't ask why I am not just e-mailing you. Oh well. Check out pix of our garden from a few weeks ago. It's a change from growing things in the soggy PNW. There are some recent pix of Julian too in our Picasa. Nite nite!
